Oh hey der sexy badass nails. How you doin’?
Okay I’m done. Maybe. Gosh I love these so much. This nail art features 2mm gold square studs from the Born Pretty Store.
When I first got into nail art the thought of attaching something to my nail and them not being completely smooth kind of freaked me out, but eventually I grew to love the way studs looked! I’ve been wanting my own for a while now so I was super excited to try these out! Born Pretty Store has square studs in two sizes (2mm and 4mm) and two colors (silver and gold).
I wasn’t quite sure how to apply these. I tried searching for directions but didn’t really find any. The Born Pretty website says to apply your base color, place the studs on, then seal with a top coat. Because these were so tiny I knew I wouldn’t be able to apply these to a wet surface and not smudge the polish. I decided to paint my base and apply a topcoat then wait for my nails to dry completely. I used tweezers to pick up the studs then with a toothpick I applied a tiny amount of nail glue to the back of the stud and placed it on my nail. I used the end of a bobby pin to do any adjustments because the round edge stood less of a chance dinging the polish. So I may have done it the “wrong” way but it worked for me. I chose nail glue over some sort of clear coat because I knew it would give me a more secure hold. The corners on these are slightly rounded so they wont snag, which is really nice.
The base is Lex Cosmetics Cayman Caban and the gold glitter is Serum No. 5 Girl’s Gotta Eat.

how do you do the rainbow sponge gradient? haha I attempted it but it didn't turn out right at all and I'm not sure where I went wrong... I don't think I sponged it on correctly x

theres heeeeaps of tutorials out there that show you how to do gradient, so for example, the first nail I painted a stripe of red  a tiny stripe of a light peachy colour, and then yellow onto a makeup sponge then I dabbed it onto paper a little bit so that I didn’t have too mush polish on the sponge, then from there dab it onto your nail, while moving it up and down a bit so the colours blend in. if you need to you can add more polish to sponge and keep dabbing- until you’re happy with how it looks (:

and just do the same thing on your other nails with different colours  (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, violet)

Sunburst.
as a big fan of nail art myself, I try out lots of different patterns/line art combinations but I always seem to have one problem- tidying the nail up. Whether it's toenails or fingernails, there is always paint round the edges! How can I make them look neat and professional? Love your blog btw xx

try using a cotton bud dipped in nail polish remover/acetone to clean up the polish thats around your finger, or you can use a thin paintbrush (preferably angled but that doesn’t matter much) dipped in remover/acetone to clean up by the cuticle and along the sides to get that neat line (: thanks! I really hope this helps you ♥
